This Digilocker Application is the online service provided by the Ministry of Electronics and IT under the Government of India. Through the help of this application, candidates will be able to get the details of the cloud-based application. This Digi locker makes sure to provide the cloud account to every Aadhaar holder to access authentic documents and certificates such as driving license, vehicle registration, academic mark sheet in digital format from the original issuers of these certificates. Through the help of this application, candidates will get 1 GB extra space to each account where they can upload scanned copies of legacy documents. To use this application candidate needs to process the Aadhaar Number after which they will be able to use this application. To make the registration process on this application it is necessary to enter the details of the Aadhaar card number after which they will receive the OTP password which will be sent to there Aadhaar card registered mobile number which they need to enter first to make the login process.

The beta version of this application was launched in 2015, this beta version of the application was rolled and launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1st July 2015. The initial storage which was provided in this application was 100 MB and now this got increased to the 1 GB. The file of the individual size for the upload can also exceed the 100 MB.

In the year 2016, Digilocker has recorded a total of 20.13 lakh users with the repository of 24.13 lakh documents. This number got jumped in large numbers which are 7.53 lakh in April when the government had urged all municipal bodies to use DigiLocker to make their administration paperless. After 2017 the facility of upload the documents on this application has been extended to allow students of the ICSE board to store their class X and XII certificates in DigiLocker and share them with agencies as required. With this in 2017, Kotak Mahindra Bank started providing access to documents in DigiLocker from within its net-banking application, allowing users to e-sign them and forward as needed. In this application, over 108 hospitals, including the Tata Memorial Hospital were planning to launch the use of DigiLocker for storing cancer patients’ medical documents and test reports in May 2017. According to a UIDAI architect, patients would be provided a number key, which they can share with another hospital to allow them to access their test reports.

- Ministry of Finance started Amendment in Prevention of Money-laundering Rules, 2005 to accept the digital KYC document through G.S.R. 582(E) on 20 August 2024.
- Ministry of Road Transport and Highways: Amendment in Rule 139 of Central Motor Vehicles Rule 1989 through the notification G.S.R. 1081(E) on 2 November 2018.
- Ministry of Railways: Acceptance of digital Aadhaar and Driving License as a proof of identity for the train journey (June 2018).
- Ministry of Civil Aviation: Notification issued by BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation and Security) to accept identity proof produced via DigiLocker for airport entry (October 2018).
